CG Artist Toolkit- Animation: Morphing [Adobe Animate]
For the first half of the day, last Friday, (23rd), group A was given the 'Animation: Morphing' exercise, to get to grips with Adobe Animate.
The 'morphing' exercise was a good way of establishing the basic feel of the program (where everything was, how to interact with the tools etc.), and since it was my first attempt at Adobe Animate, it was tough to say the least. The results, however, were rewarding.
We were required to produce 75 frames- starting on frame 1 with a self portrait, frame 25 a favourite food, frame 50 an animal, and finally frame 75 back to the original self portrait again.
When I had established the 'key frames', I could go on to draw the mid-points between each of these crucial frames. From the halves, I worked my way down to quarters, and so on and so forth until most frames had been accounted for.
There were times, however, when I preferred to work chronologically, so to better my understanding of how the lines were flowing/moving... It helped when memorising what one particular line had been doing up to that point, which was tricky.
Furthermore, almost immediately into the lesson, I found even if the key frames were successful at showing the viewer what's going on... if the filling frames didn't work or diverted in some way from the key points, it would disrupt the flow of the animation, and bring the overall quality down a couple of notches.

very expressive, Rachael - and a bit creepy somehow - in a good way (I like 'creepy'!)
ReplyDeleteHello Rachael,
ReplyDeleteNice work. Theres a small glitch with the loop where the end frame of your face is not quite lined up with the first one so it jumps each time the loop starts again, this can be easily fixed by lining up the first and last frame, then shifting a few of the last frames to the new position of your final frame so it moves nice and smoothly.

Hello Nat,
DeleteIt's fixed, (it does pause a little though before starting again, but I'm not sure why), thanks for the feedback!
