Life Drawing | Session 2

'20 Minute Pose'
For this life drawing session I concentrated predominately on blocking out shadows, and working with negative space as a means of seeing/drawing; as opposed to a purely linear approach.
The result was the lines became more concise, and drawings clearer- something that could help make my existing concept designs easier to read.

I'm also revisiting Francis Bacon's work around perspective, and use of background to enhance content as well... specifically with pencil, so not overwhelm the main subject matter.
There's probably a better way of doing this, so I'm going to look into alternative mediums that can divert from graphite, and work with the marker pens.

  1. Really like those strong, blocked drawings, Rachael - very 'solidified' and different from many of your other drawings - exciting and fresh.
